Joel D. Dasher, Sr., 78, of Clyattville, died on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Lowndes County to the late Remer Dasher and Alice Bowen Dasher and has been a lifelong resident of this area. He had been employed with the paper mill, ITT (Thompson Industries) as a tool and die maker, and recently as a salesman with Cowart Air Compressor. Mr. Dasher loved to fish and loved to tinker. He was a past Board of Directors member for the Georgia Christian School, and was an Elder with Airport Church of Christ for over 30 years.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Linda Cosby Dasher of Clyattville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Kelley Dasher of Dasher, and Greg and April Dasher of Flower Mound, Texas; his grandchildren, Zach Dasher and Allison Dasher both of Valdosta, Jared Dasher, Brooke Dasher and Michael Dasher all of Flower Mound, Texas; two nephews, Walt Dasher and Wendell Dasher. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Julian Dasher and Byron Dasher.
Services for Joel D. Dasher, Sr., will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the Airport Church of Christ with Mr. Keith Olbricht and Mr. Mike Johnson officiating. The committal will follow in the Dasher Cemetery with Minister David Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
