Joe Vallotton, 60, of Valdosta, died at his home on Wednesday, May 3, 2006.
Born in Valdosta on November 1, 1945, he was the son of Sara Bingham Vallotton and the late Robert Rouse Vallotton. Mr. Vallotton was a graduate of the University of Georgia and the University of Georgia School of Law. In 1972, he was a founding partner of the Langdale & Vallotton Law Firm. He was formerly city attorney for the city of Lake Park. He was President of Vallorbe Inc., Secretary-Treasurer of Vallotton Farms, Inc. and was instrumental in land development in Lowndes County. He was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church, the Sons of The American Revolution, and Pi Kappa Phi Social Fraternity. Mr. Vallotton had served on the Board of Directors of The First National Bank of Valdosta and the Lowndes County Zoning Board of Appeal. He was a former Chairman of the Library Board and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Valwood School. He was instrumental in organizing the Moody Support Group. He had been a member of the Valdosta Rotary Club and the Elks Club.
Mr. Vallotton is survived by his wife, Mala Vallotton of Valdosta; three sons, Rouse and his wife, Lynn Vallotton, Joe Vallotton III, and Wesley Vallotton all of Valdosta; one grandchild, Rouse Vallotton III of Valdosta; his mother, Sara Vallotton of Valdosta; one brother and sister in law, Bobby and Mike Vallotton of Valdosta; nieces, Sunny Chew of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Bobbie Ann Cox of Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Tarpley Vallotton.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 5, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Dr. Craig Rikard will officiate.
