Joe Hester

Joe Hester, 64, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center following a short illness. Born in DeFuniak Springs, FL to the late Charles & Doy Hester and formerly of Jacksonville, Mr. Hester had lived here since 1969. He was a graduate of Florida State University with an Accounting Degree. Mr. Hester was the former owner of The Sportsman’s Club and C.J.’s Pub & Pool.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Harriett R. Hester, of Valdosta; a son and his fiancée Charley Hester & Lynda Kurpis, both of Valdosta; a sister and brother in law, Biza & Paul Dirks of Tallahassee, FL; a brother and sister in law, Dr. Jim & Sally Hester of Cairo; and two grandchildren, Breanna & Emma Hester, both of Valdosta; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive Mr. Hester’s friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Monday evening January 14, 2008 from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Langdale Hospice House, 2263 Pineview Dr., Valdosta, GA 31602 or the charity of your choice.
