In Loving Memory of Joe Franklin Wetherington

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Joe Franklin Wetherington, a vibrant soul who left us unexpectedly on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the age of 21. Born on June 22, 2002, in Valdosta, Joe was the beloved son of Stephanie Marquez and Jamie Wetherington.

Joe possessed an unyielding passion for life. He found solace in the tranquility of fishing and the thrill of the hunt. His laughter was infectious, brightening the lives of all who knew him. A master of the pool table, Joe shared countless joyous moments with friends and family, creating cherished memories.

But beyond his hobbies, Joe's greatest joy came from connecting with people. He had a heart of gold, overflowing with kindness and compassion. His genuine love and care for others made him a treasured friend and family member. Those who had the privilege of knowing Joe understood the warmth and generosity he brought into their lives.

Joe leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his loving parents, Stephanie Marquez and Jamie F. Wetherington, his devoted stepmother, Jamie, and his siblings: Ashleigh Wetherington, Celeste Wetherington, Stella Marquez, Alejandro Marquez, Ana-Aurora Marquez, and Easton Wetherington. He is also survived by his grandparents, Wanda Wetherington, Paul Linn, and Mary Anne Buckmaster, as well as his nephew, Skyler Wetherington, and nieces, Emily Ellzey and Ella Frei.

In addition to his immediate family, Joe was predeceased by his brother, James Thomas Lawson Wetherington (JT), whose memory he now joins in eternal peace.

A memorial service for Joe will be held at 5pm on Saturday, October 21, 2023 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4-5pm.

In this time of profound loss, let us remember Joe's laughter, his kindness, and the love he shared. May his memory continue to inspire us all to embrace life with the same enthusiasm and love that he did.
