Joanne Rutland

JoAnne Rutland, 62, of Lake Park, died on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Born in Thomasville, on January 8, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Birdie Foskey. Mrs. Rutland was a Licensed Practical Nurse at South Georgia Medical Center, Tift Regional and Lowndes Correctional Institute. She served as a Lake Park City Council Woman and Mayor Pro Tem. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Calvary Baptist Church. JoAnne was a lifelong, God given faithful wife.

Survivors are her husband of 35 years, Chief Bert Rutland of Lake Park; a daughter and son in law, Jennifer R. and Jason Otterbach of Jacksonville, Florida, a son and daughter in law, Bert Paul Jr. and Jennifer B. Rutland of Lake Park; four grandchildren, J.T. Otterbach, Jonathan Otterbach, Tiffany Rutland, Jacob Rutland; sisters, Lois Smith of Lake Park, Mary Ann Vaughn of Baxley; brothers in law, Bob B. Rutland, Pat B. Rutland, Riley O. Rutland all of Valdosta. Mrs. Rutland was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. Reverend Carlton Allen and Reverend Keith Sandlin will officiate. Burial will follow at Lake Park Cemetery. Mrs. Rutland will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to service time.
