JoAnne Margaret Cawley, 86, of Valdosta, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018, following a short illness. She was born August 5, 1931 in Hibbing, MN to the late Louis Joseph and Margaret Smith Lauber. She was the President of the Amaryllis Garden Club, chairman of the Garden Club Antique Show for many years, and a Garden Club of Georgia State Life member. She was a dedicated member of the Crescent Club for over 20 years, and she also served as Treasurer of the Endowment Trust Board of the Crescent Club. In addition to all her gardening she was in several bridge groups, and enjoyed entertaining and spending time with her family and friends. JoAnne was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She spent 28 years as a military pilot’s wife travelling all over the world with her husband, Terry and their children. She was an English teacher, tax preparer, and served as a volunteer for several organizations.
JoAnne is survived by her husband Terance E. Cawley, of Valdosta; her children, Melissa (George) Dick, of Fort Mill, SC, Susan (Tom) Bartlett, of Richmond, VA, Pamela Milling, of Stockbridge, GA, and Sarah Cawley, of Atlanta, GA; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Kevin Cawley, and one granddaughter Terry Milling.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Dawid Kwiatkowski officiating.
