Joanne Cope, 82, of Hahira passed away Friday, April 15, 2022 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born on April 25, 1939 in Cook County, GA to the late James Isom King and Mamie Ruth Fulp King. Joanne was a 1957 graduate of Cook County High School and served in the United States Army from 1958-1966. She enjoyed reading, loved her grandchildren and loved her Belk’s shopping trips. In her earlier years Joanne worked for Eastern Airlines, Valdosta Technical School, The State of GA Department of Corrections and retired from Robert L. Patten Detention Center in Lakeland, GA.
She is survived by her husband, Al Cope, son and daughter in law, Billy and Mary Cope, daughter, Kelly Cope, grandchildren, Logan Black (Kyle), Will Cope and Emma Cope, one great grandson, Tucker Black, brothers and sister in law, Bobby and Brenda King and Al King, all of Hahira, sister and brother in law, Kathy and Mac Moss of Stuart, FL, numerous nieces and nephews. Joanne is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Margaret Olliff.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at ten a. m. at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with Reverend Ike Jefferson officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Monday at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com. Flowers will be accepted but it is preferred that donations be made to Fellowship Baptist Church building fund.
