JoAnn North Gillingwater, 72, of Lake Park, died on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born on October 11, 1941 in Valdosta to the late Curtis B. and Mary Lois Crawford North and has been a lifelong resident of this area. She was a homemaker and attended About My Father's Ministry. She loved her family and made sure that they were always cared for. She loved to shop, go fishing, and doing for others. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kathy Griffin of Valdosta; a daughter Katrina McMillan of Lake Park; daughter and her partner, Kim Griffin and Donna Griffin of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Steve Danley of Valdosta; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Brandon Griffin, Nikki Griffin, Curtis Griffin, Ethan Griffin, Jason and Amber McMillan, Cheyanne and Stoney Gaskins, Tabatha and Davey Gaskins, Justin and Raven McMillan, Heather and Elijah Miller and Callie Danley; 12 great-grandchildren, Brianna Griffin, Zayne Griffin, Braden McMillan, Skyleigh Gaskins, Harlee Gaskins, Cassie Gaskins, Bobby Dale Gaskins, Alleigh McMillan, Kayleigh McMillan, Kane Miller, Mya Miller, and Zoey Miller; two sisters, Jennette Smith and Mary Howell; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, William and Susan North, Jimmy and Judy North, Wayne and Suzanne North, and Terry North; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Morris Griffin and Ronnie Gillingwater; a grandson, Koby McMillan and a granddaughter, Chyland McMillan.
Services for JoAnn North Gillingwater will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Shelton Smith and Pastor Buck Crumley officiating. The burial will follow in the Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
