Joan Lowery Bolen, 75, of Valdosta died Monday, May 12, 2014 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on January 12, 1939 in Valdosta to the late William T. and Louise Wisenbaker Lowery and was a lifelong resident of Valdosta. Mrs. Bolen was a member of the Church of Christ. She is a salesperson for Country Cobbler Shoes for more than forty years. Mrs. Bolen was a person who gave of her time to her family, friends and community and caring for their well being.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Roesan and David Leonard of Kingsland, Trey Kageler of Valdosta, Mark Artis of Atlanta, Stephanie and Michael Heidelbach of Atlanta, four grandchildren, Chance and Paige Leonard, Candace and Adam Newell, Ian Heidelbach, Troy Artis, her great grandchild, Jaeden Newell, three brothers and two sisters in law, Danny and Margaret Ann Lowery of Valdosta, Steve and DeeDee Lowery, Gary Lowery all of Columbus, GA, her sister, Sonia Lowery of Thomaston, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Ross Lowery and Rodney Dale Lowery.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, May 15, 2014 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Bryan Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow in the Copeland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1101 Northcase Parkway, Suite 1, Marietta, GA 30067-6411 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
