Jo Ann Wiley Price, 87, of Valdosta, died on Monday, April 16, 2018 after a brief illness. She was born in Turner County, Ga to the late Charles Russell Denham & Telete Wilson Denham and graduated from Sycamore High School in 1947. She married Wallace R. Wiley, on December 6, 1947 after he returned from WW II. They were married for 53 years, prior to his death in 2001. In the late 1960’s they moved to Hawkinsville, Ga. There she worked for 23 years as a caregiver to disabled persons for the State of Georgia. In both Sycamore and Hawkinsville, Jo Ann raised her family, was a devoted wife, served her community and was faithful to her church. She moved to Valdosta in 2002 following her husband’s death. She worked for several years at South Georgia Medical Center as a Pink Lady. She lived at Langdale Place for over 8 years and loved caring for and supporting others in residence there.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice & Art Baker, of Valdosta, and Karen & Doyle Crider of Atlanta; four grandchildren and their spouses, Russell & Mary Baker of Jacksonville, FL, Carol & Rea Ricks of Bradenton, FL, Wiley & Tracy Crider and Andrew Crider, all of Atlanta. Also surviving are six great grandchildren, Britton & Matthew Ricks, Burke & Abigail Baker, Cora & Teddy Crider.
A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Price at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Pastor Scott Horne and Pastor Dexter Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at a later time at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Turner County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia.
