Jimmy Oswell Winters, Sr., 80, of Valdosta, Georgia died on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the Langdale Hospice House. He was born on April 26, 1943 to the late Lester Tittle Winters and Eva J. Crosby Winters in Quitman, Georgia.
Jimmy received Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in the Baptist faith at Francis Lake Baptist Church, in Lake Park, GA , in September of 2017. He was also a veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam. He was a master mechanic and owner of Jimmy’s Garage for over 40 years in Valdosta. Jimmy also received a degree in criminal justice at the Georgia Military College in 1978, in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Mr. Jimmy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Jody and Katrina Winters of Valdosta, their children, Blake Winters and his fiancée Reede Johnson, Dillon Winters, and daughter Savannah Leigh Winters, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Keith Folsom of Valdosta, with their children, Paige Folsom and fiancé Ron Hyatt, Lacey and Ryan Pappas, and two great grandchildren, McKenzie and Presley Pappas. He is also survived by many special friends and a Border Collie named Sheba. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Faye Shiver Winters, his loving parents, Eva J. Crosby Winters and Lester Tittle Winters, his brothers, LT Winters and William O. “Bill” Winters, and a sister, Lorene Winters Phillips.
A funeral service for Jimmy will be held at 1pm on Thursday, October 19, 2023 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Brother Skip Gibson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Welcome Hill Cemetery in Brooks County, GA. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11-1pm.
