Jimmy R. Downing

Jimmy R. Downing, 58, of Valdosta died Sunday, September 23, 2007 at the VA Hospital, Lake City, FL. He was born on January 5, 1949 in Hahira. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War, he was also a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Downing was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his loving family of parents, Julian and Thelma Downing of Valdosta; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dianne and Thomas Swails of Valdosta, Joyce and Robert Hardee of Pinetta, FL; nephew and his wife, T.J. and Amy Swails of Valdosta; niece, Sharon Hardee of Valdosta; niece and her husband, Jennifer and Joseph Gosseck of Pinetta, three great nieces, Jessica Rigdon of Valdosta, Katherine Rigdon and Roxanne Gosseck, both of Pinetta, FL.

The service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 in the chapel at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park with Brother Sammy Reeves and Mr. Gerald Poole officiating.
