Jimmy Edward Corbett, Sr., 69, of Valdosta died on Monday, August 4, 2014 at his residence. He was born on October 27, 1944 in Adel, Georgia to the late Fred and Mary Willene Surrency Corbett and has been a resident of this area all his life. He was a retired Union electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 1205. Mr. Corbett was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Park. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sarah Parker Corbett of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy (Eddie) Jr. and Brandi Dixon Corbett of Naylor; grandchildren and their spouses, Ashlee and Steven Young of Valdosta, Andrew Corbett and Britney Rogers of Valdosta and Parker Corbett of Adel; great-grandchildren, Colby Corbett, Skylar Young, and Kaylee Young all of Valdosta and Payten Corbett of Jasper, Florida; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Bill Benton of Greer, South Carolina and Shirley and Robert Newton of Hahira; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James and Kay Parker of Rome, Georgia, John and Sandy Parker of Duluth, Georgia, Allen and Hilda Parker of Lake Park, Randall and Ruth Parker of Valdosta, and Linda Pitts of Lake Park; numerous loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Rentz; a brother-in-law Jeffery Parker and his parents-in-law, Elzie and Sara Parker. The family would like to send their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Halcyon Hospice for all the care and support given to the family.

Services for Jimmy Corbett, Sr. will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The burial will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund at First Baptist Church in Lake Park, 512 W. Cotton Ave. Lake Park, GA 31636 or to Halcyon Hospice, 101 E Northside Dr. Valdosta, GA 31602.
