Jimmy Dale Miley

Jimmy Miley, age 75, of Hahira, passed away unexpectedly on October 25, 2023 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on August 5, 1948, in Adel, he was the beloved son of the late J. D. Miley and Robbie Nell Taylor Miley. Jimmy attended Cook County schools and discovered his passion for barbering at a young age, attending barber school in his teens. He began cutting hair in 1966 at Castle Park Barber Shop, earning the nickname "the Boy Barber" from his fellow barbers. Remarkably, Jimmy continued to cut hair for 57 years, right up until his passing. Throughout the years, he worked at Castle Park, McKey Barber Shop, Bemiss Road, and most recently at Baytree Barber Shop. Besides his barbershop career, Jimmy cherished his time spent working with animals. He had a penchant for herds of goats, hogs, cows, quail, pheasants, ducks, a donkey, and dogs. He also enjoyed attending auctions, collecting antiques, and sipping on Diet Pepsi.

Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Nancy Miley, his son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Denise Miley, his daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Henry K. Martin, all of Hahira. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, J.D. (Samantha) Miley, Brook (Cody) Williams, Hank Martin, Houston Martin, Haylon Martin, Bradley (Debra) Collins, Eric Andrews, Devan Andrew, Alissa Miley, and Oliver Miley, as well as his great-grandchildren, twins Waylon Miley and Paisley Miley, twins Rayleigh Miley and Kayleigh Miley, Bryson Williams, Sophia Futch, Waylon Futch, Kindly Collins, and Jackson Collins. He is also fondly remembered by his sisters, Linda Goff, Elizabeth "Bunkie" Bailey, and Patricia Tucker, his brother-in-law Mac Stewart, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jimmy is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Lee Miley, Johnny Raymond Miley, and Joe Miley.

A funeral service for Jimmy will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Bethany Baptist Church, followed by burial at Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service, from 12:30-2pm. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to Bethany Baptist Church at 5064 Bethany Road, Hahira, GA 31632.
