Jim Pinson

James Howell Pinson, of Valdosta, died suddenly at home last week. He was 73. Jim was born in Tifton, on December 11, 1938, to the late Al H. and Virginia (Taylor) Pinson. Jim was a graduate of Valdosta High School, and made his way through the business world as a salesman and business owner. Jim was a very caring husband, father, and grandfather, and his presence will be deeply missed by his loving family.

Jim was preceded in death six years ago by the true love of his life, Carole (Rice) Pinson and also last week by one of his trusted companions for 14 years, Peanut. Jim is survived by his daughter and son in law, Cathy and Rick Cheeseman, grandsons, Ethan and Kyle Cheeseman, and granddaughters, Denise and Katie Cheeseman, all of Waconia, MN; sisters in law, Barbara (Joe) Cooper and Pam (Ron) Greenfield all of Columbia, SC., and by cousins, nieces and nephews. Jim is also missed by many friends, especially Ginsie DeGange and Jan Minchew. And, Jim and Peanut are missed by special friend, Shadow.

Jim was an avid reader, gardener and master griller, enjoying his retirement years puttering in his backyard, and burying his nose in yet another novel. Jim also loved to play poker, fish and tell jokes, in that order, but was best at them in the reverse order! His favorite times were visiting friends, and with his daughter and family.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Chris Michael will officiate.
