Jim Tunison, 80, of Valdosta, died at South Georgia Medical Center on Monday, July 24, 2006. Born in Macon, GA, on August 6, 1925, he was the son of the late George and Mary Tunison. Mr. Tunison owned and operated Tunison Brick Co and then Tunison Office Furniture. He was a graduate of Renaurd College in New York City, served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Tunison has served as a board member of the Salvation Army since 1977 and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Tunison of Valdosta, daughters, Pat and Curt Grieve of Valdosta, Susan and Mark Chamberlain of Valdosta, a son, Jim and Brice Tunison of Quitman, four grandchildren, a sister, Virginia McCord of Macon, a brother and sister in law, Lucien and Verla Tunison of Warner Robins, sister in law, Jean Tunison of Casper, Wyoming, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church. The Reverend Peter Ingeman will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
