JESSIE TYLER McCRAY SMITH, of Valdosta died on Monday, December 4, 2006 at her home. She was born on November 19, 1907 in Lowndes County to the late Marion and Edna Bailey Wingate and was a lifelong resident of Lowndes County. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Faith Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Oweda Tyler Williams and Edward Williams, Sr. of Valdosta, son and daughter in law, JR Tyler, Jr. and Frances Tyler of Lakeland, Fla., daughter in law, Rebecca Tyler of Valdosta, stepson and stepdaughter in law, Franklin McCray and Betty McCray of Centerville, GA., sister in law, Loreen Wingate of Wrightsville, GA., grandchildren, Joanne Williams Halter, Violet Williams Emery, Jesse Bates Williams, Sr., Gloria Griffin Wright, Vianne Griffin McGill, Joe Griffin, Jeff Frier, Diane Tyler Wiese, Karen Tyler Pleasant, Joseph Tyler, Linda Tyler Fry, Joseph Riley Tyler, III, Debby Tyler Manwarren, special great grandson, Jay Greene, 32-great grandchildren, 33-great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Riley Tyler, Sr., Jimmy McCray and William Thomas Smith, two daughters, Juanita Tyler Griffin, Essie Mae Tyler Frier, two sons, William Russell Tyler, Sr. and Doyster Marion Tyler, Sr., three sisters, Susie Brantley, Frances Brooks and Thelma Turner and two brothers, Buddy Wingate and Jay Wingate and grandchildren, Edward (Eddie) Christian Williams, Jr., William Tyler, Jr., Marian Tyler Ezzell, Doyster Tyler, Jr. and Dianne Griffin.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Thursday, December 7, 2006 at the Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Mickey Wisehart and Pastor Gene Wisehart officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Smith will lie in state at the family residence at 1210 McRee Drive until service time.
