Jessie Lee Isaacs Southall, 86, of Valdosta, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Heritage House Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was born April 10, 1924 in Lakeland, a daughter of the late Edward H. and Florida McLean Isaacs, and grew up in the Lakeland-Naylor area. She was united in marriage with Willie Curtis Southall and the couple made their home in Valdosta. Mrs. Southall was employed at South Georgia Medical Center as a Medical Transcriptionist for over thirty years, and after retiring she worked in the same capacity at Southern Podiatry Group for eighteen years.
Mrs. Southall was a member of Redland Baptist Church and was a Christian woman. She loved her family, cooking, fishing, sewing, and shopping. She also enjoyed canning vegetables, working in her yard, and watching Charles Stanley on Sunday mornings.
She is survived by a brother-in-law, Leroy Southall and his wife Sheila; her special nieces and nephews: Jamie and Elaine Southall, and Jan and Wayne Phillips; special great-nieces and great-nephews and their families whom she loved dearly: Stephanie Peterson, Daniel and Stephen, Bubba and Paige Southall and Avery, Justin Barrett and Analei, and Jessica and Graham Sale, all of Valdosta; and many additional family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a sister, Hazel Nell Isaacs Southall, two brothers, Adron and Rayder Isaacs, and a half-sister, Ruby Dobbs.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Southall will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at Redland Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in Redland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening (Sunday) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home, and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the church prior to the funeral service.
