Jessie Bailey Hurtt, of Tifton, died at Southwell Health and Rehabilitation in Adel on Sunday, September 20, 2020. Born in Ware County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Eddie Hesters and Lillie Jordan Hesters. Mrs. Hurtt had retired from Owens-Illinois where she had worked for 25 years as an inspector. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church and President of the Loving Hearts Sunday School Class for many years. Her hobbies were recording and keeping the history of Valdosta, singing and coloring.
Preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, T.C. Bailey who passed away in 1983, her second husband, Aubrey G. Hurtt, her brother, Ward Hesters, her sister and brother in law, Hazel and Ron Wetherington; she is survived by her nieces, Chrystle Ross of Tifton, Patty Childers of Cordele, Louise Godwin of Jefferson, Sharon Powell of Quitman; nephews, Mike McDonald, Jim Hesters of Valdosta; great nieces and nephews, Virginia Gray, Kim Power, Becky Eason, Sue Coza, Gerald Bailey, Deena Evan of Monroe, Chan Godwin of Jefferson, Jodi Brannen, J.J. Hesters of Valdosta.
Graveside memorial services and committal of cremains will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Reverend Michael Bass will officiate.
