Jerry Williams, 68, a lifelong resident of Valdosta, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. He was born in Shreveport, LA on May 12, 1949 to the late Roger Ludman Williams and Rita Henriksen Birkemuse. He was a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Williams had a master's degree in education and taught at Lowndes High School where he coached the swim team, wrestling, and soccer. He enjoyed fishing, watching football, NASCAR, and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his daughter, Renee Barnett (Walter), and son, Paul Williams, his sister Peggy Dowling (Rudy), and his grandchildren Seth Ward, Isabel Ward, Madison Williams, Brady Williams, and many nieces and nephews, and his close friend Bruce Crook. Jerry was preceded in death by his brother Glenn Williams.
Funeral services for Mr. Williams will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Deacon Severo Alvarado officiating.
