Jerry W. Passmore

Jerry Passmore, 71, of Lake Park, died at his residence on Monday, December 5, 2011, he had been a lifelong resident of this area. Born in Hahira to the late R.A. Passmore, Jr. and Virginia Alligood Nelson, Mr. Passmore grew up there and graduated from Hahira High School. He developed an early love for hunting and fishing which he pursued throughout his life, which became a true love for conservation in his later years. Mr. Passmore owned and operated several service stations over the years. After retirement, he worked on his farm where his pecan orchard became an all-consuming passion.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Passmore is preceded in death by his son, Jerry Ray Passmore. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Radney Passmore of Lake Park, two daughters and sons in law, Tina & Eric Blades of Clyattville, Amber & Scott Gordon of Clyattville; seven grandchildren, April Passmore, Kaitlynn Passmore, Jackson Passmore, Emily Passmore, Logan Blades, Riley Gordon and John Ross Gordon, all of Valdosta; and two great grandchildren, Braylon Worley and Rigby Passmore, both of Valdosta. Also surviving are a brother and sister in law, Ron & Melissa Passmore of Columbus; two sisters and brothers in law, Ellice & Phil Martin of Homerville and Peggy & Terry Wilkes of Valdosta; and the Possum Gang, Dale Grice, Tony Hand, James Stephens and Bobby Chaney.
A memorial service will be held for Mr. Passmore at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Lake Park Christian Church in Lake Park. Rev. Aubrey Bussell and Rev. Billy Mitchell will officiate. The family will receive friends at their residence on Tuesday evening, December 6, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Lake Park Christian Church or the charity of your choice.
