Jerry Dwight Legette

Jerry Dwight Legette, 70, of Valdosta, died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on August 22, 1946 in Hahira to the late Marvin D. Legette and Sunnie Legette. Mr. Jerry Legette was a retired SSgt from the United States Army . He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and attended Grace Baptist Church. SSgt Legette served in Vietnam, 101st and 82nd airborn. He served in Berlin and was instrumental in the NCOPC construction at Fort Campbell, KY.
Survivors include his wife, Dana Joyce Legette of Valdosta, daughter, Kathryn Cerise Legette Maartense of Valdosta, granddaughter, Tiffany Maartense Frazier (Shaquille) of Adel, stepdaughter, Melissa Ann (Lisa) Johnson (Frank) of Valdosta, step grandson, Matthew Hall (Amelia Stracener) of Valdosta, step granddaughter, Taylor Hatcher (Austin Ogletree) of Valdosta, five great grandchildren, Lilly, Alanna, Brantley, Calli and Matthew, Jr., brother, Billy Joe Legette (Sharon) of Panama City, FL. Mr. Legette is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Kathryn Nesmith, three brothers, M. D. Legette, Bobby Legette and Lamar Legette.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 9, 2016 at three p. m. at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery.
