Jerranell “Jeri” Lehman Lightsey, 61, of Naylor, died Sunday, July 31, 2005 at her daughter’s residence. She was born on July 17, 1944 in Lowndes County to the late James Carol Lehman, Sr. and to Lucy Gordena Huggins Lehman. Mrs. Lightsey had worked over the years at Levi Strauss, Winkinson, Ithaca, and from her home as a seamstress and was a member of the Statenville Church of God.
She is survived by her husband, David Lightsey of Naylor, one daughter and son in law, Callie and Glenn Moore, two sons, James Orville “Orvie” Smith, Jr. and Jesse Smith all of Valdosta, three grandchildren, Austin Smith, Caleb Moore and Gabe Moore, all of Valdosta, mother, Lucy Lehman of Valdosta, one sister and brother in law, Georgia Ellen and Lacy Strickland, two brothers and sisters in law, James Carol Lehman, Jr. and Darlene Lehman and Scott and Leah Lehman all of Valdosta, aunt, Mary Reaves of Hahira, numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lightsey was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Gordean Rentz.
A graveside funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at Burnt Church Cemetery in Lanier County. Rev. Wayne Hughes will officiate. A procession will leave from Carson McLane Funeral Home on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. to go to the cemetery for the service.
