Jerome Folsom

Jerome Folsom, 92, of Barney passed away on December 21, 2015 at the Fellowship Home following a brief illness. He was born in Hahira on November 14, 1923 to the late Turner and Minnie Lee Webb Folsom and was a lifelong resident of this area. Jerome served in the United States Army and was a WWII veteran. He attended Middle Georgia college where he lettered in basketball. He then attended and received his bachelors in vocational agriculture from the University of Georgia and a Masters of biology from Valdosta State University. He retired after teaching for forty years with Brooks County school system. In his spare time Jerome enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Barney United Methodist Church for eighty years.

Mr. Folsom is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Juanita Harralson Folsom of Barney; a son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Debra Folsom of Barney; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Charlene Folsom McWilliams of Houston, TX, Deryl and Larry Green of Hahira, Jenny and Bill McLendon of Hahira; eight grandchildren, Daphne Folsom, Deidre Chadwick (Stephen), Blake Folsom, Erin Dodson (Nic), Lee Green, Meredith McLendon, Cole McLendon, Grant McLendon; five great grandchildren, Drew Dodson, Luke Dodson, Camden Chadwick, Lucas Chadwick, Anna Chadwick.

Services for Jerome Folsom will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Barney United Methodist Church. Dr. Charles McDowell will officiate. Burial will follow at Campground Cemetery in Morven. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at the Martin McLane Funeral Home.
