Jeannie Shiver Winters Helton, 69, of Valdosta died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was born on August 22, 1944 in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Broches Shack and Cleo Haze Shiver. Mrs. Helton was retired from Crackin Good Bakery after 15 years and was the owner of Security Sales of Valdosta. Having lived most of her life in Lowndes County she enjoyed crafts, pottery, gardening and reading. She was a member of Redland Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Price Winters (Nancy) of Valdosta, two granddaughters, Ashley Fay Nichols and friend Shelton Epler and Kelsey Paige Winters all of Valdosta; four great-grandchildren, Makayla Harris, Mallery Winters, Maddelynn Winters, and Zander Winters all of Valdosta; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda Winters (Jimmy) of Valdosta; along with several nieces and nephews and special friend Annie. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two husbands, Edward Ray Helton and William P. Winters, one daughter Teresa Winters and a brother James Alfred Shiver (Bunky).
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2014 in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in Redland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
