Jean S. Williams, 81, of Valdosta, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015, at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born August 16, 1933 in Richland, a daughter of the late Joe H. and Cora Toney Scott. Mrs. Williams taught Elementary School with the Lowndes County School System at Clyattville Elementary and Parker-Mathis Elementary, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, James Williams of Valdosta; two sons, Barry Herrin of Cumming, and Michael Herrin of Port Gibson, MS; two grandchildren, Scott Herrin and Abigail Herrin, both of Acworth; one sister, Hilda Tenenbaum and husband Raymond of Cartersville; one brother, Joe Hill Scott, Jr. of LaGrange; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service for Mrs. Williams will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Gary Bagley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association or to the First Presbyterian Church of Valdosta, Georgia.
