Jean Manges

Jean Manges, 91, of Lake Park, and formerly of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, died on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. Born on July 19, 1915 in Bedford, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Frank and Della Griffith Manges. Mr. Manges was retired from Broward County, Florida where he had worked as Prison Warden. He was affectionately known by his grandchildren as “Mean Jean” and he loved a good game of golf. Mr. Manges was a Lutheran.

Mr. Manges is survived by his son and daughter in law, Huey and Carolyn Manges of Lake Park; grandchildren, Paige and Ted Keating of Ortonville, MI., Craig and Shawna Newport of Villa Hills, KY.; great grandchildren, J. Edward Keating, Caroline Keating of Ortonville, MI., Caylee Newport and Shylah Marksbery of Villa Hills, KY.; nephews and their spouses, Eugene and Jan Saylor of Arizona, John and Joan Ross of Tavares, Florida; special friend, Katie Hunter of Jasper, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Elaine Carver Manges, a brother, Griffin Manges and a sister, “Jeebie” Saylor and special friend, Mary Sauppe.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 12, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home. Services and interment will be held at Fairchild Funeral Home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com
