J.B. White, Jr.

J.B. WHITE, JR., 58, of Lake Park, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at the Langdale Hospice House after a short illness. J.B. was also known by his CB handle "JR".

He was born June 25, 1950 in Valdosta, a son of the late J.B. and Delia Clemons White, and was a lifelong Lowndes County resident. For the longest portion of his life he was employed as a truck driver, currently driving logging truck for Forte Contracting.

He was a member of Swilley Hill Church of God. J.B. greatly enjoyed his family, had a great sense of humor, was a comical truck driver, very likeable, and a well respected man that never met a stranger.

In addition to his wife of 29 years, Betty White, he is survived by four sons, Randy Weldon and wife Fannie of Homerville, Rodney Weldon and wife Jaunita of Jennings, FL, Raymond Weldon and Robert Weldon, both of Valdosta; four daughters, Marcia Wilson of Valdosta, Dee Dee White of Mayo, FL, Jeanie Ponds and husband Raymond of Valdosta, and Candy Balmer and husband Damon of Indiana; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; his step-mother, Margie White of Valdosta; one brother, Joe White of Lakeland; two sisters, Peggy Phillips of Atlanta, and Mary Alice May and husband Jay of Tennessee; one step-brother, Louie Carratt of Valdosta; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Jerry White, and two sisters, Marie Dorminey and Gary Peoples.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, April 25, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Frier officiating. Interment will follow in Copeland Cemetery. J.B.'s family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in J.B.'s memory to Hospice of South Georgia, P.O. Box 1727, Valdosta, GA 31603.
