USAF TSgt. (Ret.) J.B. Morse, 77, of Hahira, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Fellowship Home after a lengthy illness.
He was born March 25, 1936 in Quitman, a son of the late A.J. and Mamie Green Morse. Mr. Morse honorably served as an Aircraft Mechanic in the U.S. Air Force, which included assignment in Vietnam. More than anything else, he loved to fish, and enjoyed making his own lures. He enjoyed teaching his children how to shoot a gun, water ski, fly a model airplane and to drive a car.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rose and Steve Fout of Galloway, OH; son, William Vanacore of Hahira; daughter, Rebecca Vanacore of Hahira; daughter, Kathy Stump of Greenfield, MO; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one brother, Jesse Morse and wife Julie of WA; a sister, Emma Beatty of Pavo; sister-in-law, Bobbie Baird of Thonosassa, FL; many additional extended family and loved ones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Baird Morse on March 10, 2012; a brother, Edward Morse; and two brothers-in-law, Stephen Baird and Murray Beatty.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Memorial Service, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
