Janie Ruth Becton, 73, of Hahira died Friday, September 11, 2020 at Emory University Hospital. She was born in Hahira on October 20, 1946 and the daughter of the late Howard W. Long and Lizzie Druella Warren Long. She was a member of the Friendship Primitive Baptist Church and retired as Licensed Practical Nurse from Smith Hospital and with The Easter Seals of Valdosta. She loved cooking, fishing, taking care of people and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Becton was strong person who survived many hardships but walked in life with grace and strength. She instilled in her family a spirit of giving, loving, and caring for others.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Becton of Hahira; her daughter and son in law, Joni and Anthony Oliver of Cumming, GA; her grandchildren, Jarrod Oliver of Hahira, Betsie and Colton Brack of Cumming; her brother and sister in law, Charles and Diane Warren of Corpus Christi, TX; her sisters in law and brothers in law, Barbara Morrison of Orlando, FL, Bonnie Duggan of Hahira, Gloria and Walter Hall of Fernandina, FL, John and Dana Becton of Murchison, TX, Jerry and Betty Rose Becton of Hahira; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Gene Becton, a sister, Diane Coody and brothers in law and sister in law, Benny and Gloria Becton, Angus Morrison, Jimmy Duggan.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, September 16, 2020 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Russ Elkins officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
