Our Momma, Janie Mae Hall Carter, 82, went to her reward on Saturday morning. She was born on January 3, 1925 in Colquitt County to the late Bill and Pearl Weeks Hall. Together, she and her husband of 44 years raised eight children. She loved her family and we will miss her greatly. When her health allowed, she attended worship at the First Nazarene Church, where she was a member.
Survivors include her husband, James F. Carter, Sr.; four daughters and sons in law, Velinda and Farrell Goulart, Debra and Larry Cauthorn, Frances and Terry Curtis, Linda and David Bridges; four sons and daughters in law, Glenn Smith, Donald Carter, James, Jr. and Jane Carter, Wayne and Rita Carter. She was blessed to have 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was also survived by her brother and sister in law, Cecil and Joyce Hall; sister, Opal Ray, and sister in law, Lil Carter with whom she loved discussing the Atlanta Braves. Momma had a host of nieces and nephews. Her dear friends, Bonnie Singletary and Hazel Bowman will also miss her. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Hall, her twin brother, James Hall, and her sister Frances Roberts.
A funeral service will be held at 4 P.M. on Monday, October 15, 2007 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Sayre officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 4-6 P.M. at the funeral home. Flowers and donations in her name to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
