JANICE P. WHEELER, 56, of Valdosta died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the Langdale Hospice House. She was born in Valdosta on April 5, 1952 to Faye Speer Phillips and the late Clarence Phillips, Jr. Mrs. Wheeler was a member of Westside Baptist Church and had been a nurse at South Georgia Medical Center for the past thirty six years. She attended Mrs. Jean's Kindegarten in Madison, Fla and elementary school in Pinetta and was a graduate of Lowndes High School. Mrs. Wheeler loved scrapbooking, cooking, fishing, crocheting and spending time with her friends and family.
Survivors include her husband, Harry Alvin Wheeler, her son, Aaron Justin Wheeler, her mother, Faye Phillips, sister and brother in law, Ann and Tommy Bussey, her nephew, Blair Bussey all of Valdosta, stepson, Leonard Alvin Wheeler, stepdaughter, Alicia Lee Wheeler both of Homerville, sister in law and two brothers in law, Patricia and Bill Parker of Pelham and Earl Wheeler, Jr. of Atlanta. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Benjamin Wheeler, her father, Clarence Phillips, Jr. and a brother, Larry Phillips.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm, Friday, April 25, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Bussey, Dr. Ernie Jones and Chaplain Benny Olliff officiating. Burial will follow in the Redland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
