Janice Livermore

October 26, 1939 — June 23, 2015

Janice Ellen Thompson Livermore of Valdosta, Georgia, was born on October 26, 1939 in Kokomo, Indiana. Janice died on June 23, 2015 at the age of 75 years, 7 months, and 27 days. She was the daughter of Stanley and Pauline Thompson of Kokomo.

Janice was a consummate teacher whether it was at the elementary level, the college level, or as a Sunday school class teacher. She began her teaching career in Annapolis, Maryland and over the years taught in Kentucky, Mississippi, and Kansas as well as Georgia. She ended her career as an elementary reading teacher and counselor in the Lowndes County school system for twenty years. After retiring from Lowndes in 2000, she taught psychology, developmental reading, and study skills at Georgia Military College, Valdosta attendance center for twelve years.

Janice was a member of the Class of '57 of Kokomo High School. She was very proud that her bachelor's degree was from Purdue University in Indiana and her Masters was from the University of Louisville in Kentucky.

She was raised in the Disciples of Christ tradition in Kokomo. In Valdosta, she belonged to the First United Methodist Church from 1990 to 2010 when she once again returned to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Valdosta.

Left to mourn her are her many friends as well as Harry Livermore, her husband of 26 years. She also left children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Among them are two sons Thomas Howell who lives in Rochester, New York and Michael Howell of Ft Lauderdale, Florida. Patrick Howell, a third son, predeceased her by ten years. She also has two step sons, Bradley Livermore of Corpus Cristi, Texas and Philip Livermore of Echols County, Georgia.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2015, at 11:00 o'clock a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Diane Shedd and Reverend Chris Michael will officiate.
Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 -8 p.m. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
