Janice L. McAdams, 59, of Nashville, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2010, at her home after a lengthy illness.

Jan was born January 29, 1951 in Monticello, FL, a daughter of the late John and Jewel Martin Barfield. She graduated from Allendale-Fairfax High School, Allendale, SC with the Class of 1969, was formerly employed at SAFT, and most recently at Brenntag Chemical Co., retiring three years ago. Janice was an active member of New Covenant Church, the Lily Garden Club, Georgia Federation of Republican Women, and many other community and civic organizations. She enjoyed cooking and catering for others, gardening and reading.

She is survived by her husband Joseph Bailey McAdams (Tres) of Nashville; three daughters and son-in-laws, Dana M. Whitener and Bryce of Valdosta, Melissa M. Armstrong and Kelly of Gainesville, FL, and Karen M. Stribling and Doug of Tallahassee, FL; one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph B. McAdams IV and Christina of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren, Emma, Ella, Maryanne, Hope, Addison, Jacob, Hannah and Joseph; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Hilda Armstrong and Kerry of Perry, FL, and Selma Sauls of Tallahassee, FL; three brothers and sister-in-laws, Hobart Barfield and Margaret of Baxley, Fred Barfield and Mary of Baxley, and Craig Barfield and Nancy of Columbus, MS; father-in-law, Joseph B. McAdams II of Lake City, FL; one sister-in-law, Marty Dixon and husband John of Jamestown, NC; one brother-in-law, Chris McAdams and wife Linda of Clayton, NC; two loving aunts; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, June 14, 2010 at New Covenant Church, 3531 Bemiss Road, Valdosta, with Pastor Randy Stephen officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home, 2215 N. Patterson St., Valdosta.
