Janet P. Smith

Janet P. Smith, 76, of Valdosta died Monday, August 15, 2011 at her home. She was born on March 10, 1935 in Coweta County to the late Clarence Olin and Amorie Bryant Pettigrew and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mrs. Smith and her husband, the late Hulyn Smith who died March 22, 2011 would have celebrated 57 years of marriage on August 15. She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church and a lifetime member of the Valdosta Junior Service League. She was a member of the Valdosta Camellia Society and the American Camellia Society. She and her husband were honored with the Tablet of Honor Award for their contribution to the growth of the American Camellia Society.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons in law, Renee Smith Powell and Hank Powell of Newnan, Lauren Smith Tudor, Mandy Smith White and Jeff White all of Valdosta, grandchildren, Rebecca Land Segrest and Glenn Segrest of Rome, GA., Amarie Clare Land of Atlanta, Mary Camille Land of Newnan, Kathryn McLendon Land of Newnan and their father, Robert Tommy Land of Valdosta, Amanda Renee Tudor, Emily Kate White, Bryant William White all of Valdosta, sister and brother in law, Joyce Pettigrew Baker and Johnny Baker of Mableton.

Memorial services will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Christ Episcopal Church with Father Peter Ingeman officiating. Interment will follow in the Christ Church Urn Garden.
