Janet P. Shaw

JANET P. SHAW, 63, of Valdosta, passed away Monday, January 25, 2010, at South Georgia Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.

She was born August 30, 1946 in Shreveport, LA, a daughter of Talmadge and Myrtle Hammons Parker. For fourteen years, Mrs. Shaw had been employed in Recovery at South Georgia Medical Center as a Registered Nurse, retiring in 2001. She was of Baptist faith.

In addition to her husband of 44 years, Richard Shaw of Valdosta, she is survived by one son, John R. and wife Donnel Shaw of Dallas, TX; one daughter, Melody V. and husband Timm Samples of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Cooper and Turner Samples of Valdosta, and Richard and Emily Shaw Dallas, TX; a cousin, John L. and wife Marleen Hammons of Bossier City, LA; brother-in-laws; Gene Humphrey of Chattanooga, TN, John and wife Mary Shaw of Longview, TX, and James and wife JoAnn Shaw of Pittsburg, TX. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Sandra Humphrey.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Shaw will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Riverview Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Jim Schappaugh officiating. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home.
