Janelle Carter Stalvey, 84, of Valdosta, died at South Georgia Medical Center on Wednesday, September 1, 2010. She was a Native and lifelong resident of Lowndes County, and a member of Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church where she served as clerk for many years and on the Cemetery Committee. Mrs. Stalvey was a business college graduate and had retired from civil service at Moody Air Force Base. She was also a member of the Echols County Historical Society and NARFE. Her life centered on her church and family. She loved fishing, gardening and watching things grow.
Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, Tom and Karen Stalvey, Bobby and LaDonna Stalvey; four grandchildren, Missy and Jay Eason, Tommy and Candi Stalvey, Rob and Jennifer Stalvey, and Kristin Fletcher; seven great grandchildren, Cole Young, Courtney Stalvey, Karter Fletcher, Lake Fletcher, Paisley Fletcher, Cooper Eason, and Elizabeth Stalvey all of Valdosta. Mrs. Stalvey was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Stalvey, Jr., her father, Earl Carter and her mother, Ruth Davis Carter.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Jim Sandlin and Elder Lynwood Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Cat Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6 � 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
