Jane Lumpkin Ferrell, 92, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Born on in Quitman to the late Henry & India Young Lumpkin, she grew up in Quitman and graduated from Brooks County High School in the mid 1940’s. She met and married the late Converse Ferrell of Valdosta, on April 16, 1949, and she has lived here in Valdosta since that time. Mrs. Ferrell has always been very active in the community and in social clubs and was a long time member of Christ Episcopal Church.
Survivors include her three daughters, Jane Ferrell Burgsteiner, and her husband Will of Valdosta, Deborah Ferrell Christy of Middleburg, FL, Harriett Farrell Smith & her husband Terry of Springfield, VA; and a son, George William Ferrell and his wife Debbie of Middleburg, FL; four grandchildren, Tracy Burgsteiner (Martin) Jones of Brookhaven, Melissa Christy (Brock) Gump of Middleburg, FL, Sara Christy (Cameron) Hierstein, of San Antonio, TX and Tosha (Tim) Mosbach of Middleburg, FL; and 9 great grandchildren. The family also deeply appreciates Mrs. Ferrell’s caregivers, which include Myra Davis & Rossetta Carrington and others. She is preceded in death by her parents, step father, H. W. Stubbs, her husband and a grandson, Will Burgsteiner.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The Reverend Doctor Dave Johnson will officiate.
