Jane Hunter Bennett

Jane Hunter Bennett, 57, of Valdosta died on Sunday, June 23, 2013 following a short illness. Jane had been a lifelong resident of this area. She began her career when she worked for several years as a secretary at C&S Bank (now Bank of America). She soon went back to school and then achieved her degree in nursing and after she passed her boards went to work for several doctors' offices including SGMC's Youth Care and Dr. Feldman's office. Jane then went on to work for 15 years at Greenleaf Center until this past year. She had a life long love for horses, which began when she took lessons when she was 12 years old. She continued to ride and compete through high school in English and Five Gait. Fernandina Beach was her place of peace and relaxing. She greatly enjoyed spending time there with family and friends. Jane was a member at Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Jessica & Chuck Laslie of Quincy FL; two sons and daughters in law, Parks & Ashley Herrington Bennett of Washington, D.C. and Jason & K.C. Bennett, of Valdosta; her mother, Jeanne Hunter Davis Rountree of Valdosta and two grandchildren, Hunter Talmadge Laslie of Quincy, FL and Ansley Diane Bennett and a number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Bennett, on Jan 31 of this year. Also her father Walter Rountree Hunter, Jr. and her step father, Felton Davis.

Funeral services for Jane will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Hart will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia/ Langdale Hospice House, 2263 Pineview Dr. Valdosta, GA, 31602.
