Jane Elizabeth Adams, 92, of Valdosta, died on Friday, October 7, 2011 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman. Born on December 16, 1918, in the community of Ousley in Lowndes County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Minor A. and Clyde Sullivan Sims. Widow of the late Charles Wilbert Adams, Mrs. Adams was a member of the Ousley Baptist Church. She had taught school at Clyattville and was the author of a book about the Sims family history.
Survivors are her children, Ronnie Adams of Valdosta, Thomas Sims Adams of Dawsonville, Susan Adams Harrelson of Jacksonville, Florida, Steven C. Adams of Beaverton, Oregon; six grandchildren, Charles R. Adams, II, John Adams, Jeffrey Sanda, Shari Black, Fara Adams Futch, Michael Adams; nine great grandchildren; and a sister, Sarah Sims Ley of Quitman. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her brothers, William T. Sims, Jack S. Sims and Berry Sims.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Dillard Ensley will officiate. Burial will follow at Ousley Cemetery.
