Jane Bowes

Jane Streetman Hallock Bowes, 80 formerly of Lakeland, FL, died on Friday, January 20, 2006 at her residence in Valdosta, GA. Born on October 9, 1925 in Pensacola, FL, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Myra Quina Streetman. Among her many professions, she was a dance instructor and owned her own School of Dance in Bartow, FL. She had also been a bookkeeper in Lakeland, FL and an Airport Manager in Gainesville, FL. In her latter years she was a homemaker, a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Valdosta and was active in the Republican Women’s Club.

Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Tim Murphy of Valdosta and Rebecca’s father, Gene S. Bowes of Woolwine, VA; a son, Norman Hallock, Jr. of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Abigail Murphy of Valdosta, Christopher Douglas of Lakeland, FL; four great grandchildren; sister, Rita Hill of New Port Richey, FL; nephew, Forrest D. Hill, III and niece, Marisa Hill both of New Port Richey and a number of cousins. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Hallock Burr, a brother, Mark Streetman and her first husband, Norman Hallock, Sr.


A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:10 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2006 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Valdosta with Father John O’Brien officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland, FL with a priest from St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating.
