Jan Pope, 33, of Hahira died Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. She was born on November 3, 1977 in Columbus, Georgia. Jan was a star softball player with Russell County High School in Russell County, Alabama and was a cheerleader at Lowndes High School. She was independently driven, was an avid photographer and an Auburn Tiger fan. Jan was a loving mother to her two sons, Casey and Gage.
Survivors include her mother, Della Shiver of Mobile, Alabama, her father, Gary Pope of Lucedale, Mississippi, her grandmother, Allene Griffith of Americus, GA, her fiancé, Mark LeFiles of Hahira and her sons, Casey Luker and Gage LeFiles both of Hahira.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Ross Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to programs benefitting Autistic children.
