JAMES W. “BILL” HOWELL, 72, of Valdosta died Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. Born on December 8, 1931 in Valdosta, he was the son of the late L. R. and Emily Daugherty Howell. He was a retired engineer with ITT and served as a First Lieutenant with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Howell was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Frances Hall Howell of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Ann and David Spencer of Tampa, FL; sons and daughters-in-law, William Jeffrey and Tina Howell of Atlanta, David Robert Howell of Warner Robbins, Jonathan James and Kimberly Howell of Valdosta; grandchildren, Holley Frances Sorrells, Roger Allen Howell, Nicole Howell and Jonathan Thomas Howell and a sister, Marie Edwards of Valdosta.
Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Reverend V. L. Daugherty and Reverend Lance Kindred officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
