James Wheeler

James Wheeler, 91, of Valdosta, died Saturday, September 24, 2005 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on May 17, 1914 in Grady County, Georgia to the late Jessie Raines and Sallie Lou Hines Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler was the owner and operator of Valdosta Mattress Company, served in the United States Army from 1943 until 1945, was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church, charter member of the Men’s Garden Club and the Valdosta Camellia Society.

He is survived by his wife, Adrene Morgan Wheeler of Valdosta, one son and daughter in law, Jim and Susan Wheeler of Jesup and one sister, Amanda Wheeler Hicks of Thomasville.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Ken Alford and Dr. Russ Elkins officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Monday at the funeral home.
