James Wesley (J.W.) Warren, Sr., 82, of Valdosta died on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on June 1, 1935 in Nashville, Georgia to the late Wesley James and Ruby Taylor Warren. He was a graduate of Valdosta High School and entered the military shortly after high school. He served twenty years in the United States Air Force. Mr. Warren was also a retired police officer with Valdosta State University. Mr. Warren was a real people person and enjoyed his work in law enforcement in which he made a positive impact on anyone he met. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church where he served as a greeter for many years.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, James, Jr., and Julie Warren and his granddaughter Kate Warren all of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Doris Alene Warren.
Services for James Wesley (J.W.) Warren, Sr., will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Wayne Robertson officiating. The burial will follow in the Westview Cemetery in Nashville, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
