James W. (Jim) Brantley, 92, of Valdosta died Thursday, August 15, 2019 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Naylor, Georgia on October 17, 1926 to the late Julian and Jo Alice Graves Brantley and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Brantley was a former member of the Forrest Street United Methodist Church and currently a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church. He was retired as Vice President of First Union Bank and a veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his daughter, Nita Brantley of Valdosta; son and special friend, Mike Brantley and Lavinnia Eblen of Brunswick, son and daughter in law, Bobby and Shelli Brantley of Valdosta; his grandchildren, Alex and Silvia Huber of Berlin, Germany, Jesslyn and Brandon Oliver, Brady and Andrea Brantley all of Valdosta; his great grandson, Max Huber of Berlin, Germany; sisters in law and brothers in law, Betty Greene of Rome, GA, Robert Johnson of Hahira, Nancy and Jack Allen of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bea Johnson Brantley, his sister and brother in law, Dot and Sam Marchu; parents in law, W. F., Sr. and Luana Johnson, brothers in law and sisters in law; Arminda J. Morrison, W. F. (Bill) Jr. and Gerry Johnson, Lester Greene, Thomas and Margie Johnson, Peggy Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 10am, Saturday, August 17, 2019 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Towson officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
