James. W. "Jake" Maine

James W. "Jake" Maine, 73, of Valdosta, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 23, 2016, after a period of declining health.

He was born March 2, 1943, in Homerville, the son of Laura D. Griffis Maine and the late James S. Maine. Following his honorable service as an Aircraft Mechanic in the U.S. Navy, he continued as an Aircraft Mechanic as a civilian for several years before starting his own business, Reel Service and Equipment. Upon accepting Christ and being baptized, Jake attended First Baptist Church of Lake Park. He loved his family, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening.

Jake is survived by his wife of fifty years, Lynn S. Maine of Valdosta; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Ken Corbett of Lake Park, Laurie and Jonathan Hancock of Valdosta, and Jennifer and Travis Dees of Lake Park; six grandchildren, Justin and wife Brandi Corbett, Jessica and husband Eric Bolesta, Jared Corbett, Garrett Hancock, Jake Dees and John Parker Dees; four great-granddaughters, Madison and Maci Corbett, Ashton and Alden Bolesta; his mother, Laura Maine of Valdosta; three sisters-in-law, Karleen and husband George O'Berry, Vivian and husband Johnny Smith, and Jamie Douglas, all of Homerville; and several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Maine will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016 in the Chapel of McLane Lakewood Funeral Home, with Rev. Mickey Corbett and Rev. Robert Dawson officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Forest Cemetery, Homerville. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
