James Terry Luke, Sr., 65, of Valdosta died on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at South Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness. He was born in Valdosta on January 6, 1947 to the late Clarence Claude and Betty Joyce Swann Luke and has been a resident of Valdosta all his life. He was the owner and operator of Luke Electrical Services and was a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Diann Brown Luke of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Hudson Carter; son and daughter-in-law, Terry Jr., and Cindy Luke all of Valdosta; daughter, Felicia Luke of Jacksonville, Florida; son, Brian Luke of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Hudson Carter, Audrey Luke, Noah Carter, Haley Luke and Caiden Luke; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd and Gloria Luke, Colin and Diane Luke, J.W. and Sue Luke all of Valdosta; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Alton Brooks of Valdosta; brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Diane Luke of Valdosta; sisters and brothers-in-law, Claudia and John Golden of Hahira and Joyce and Jim Blanton of Macon, Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for James Terry Luke, Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Luke and Dr. Skip VanNus officiating. The burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
