James R. Mueller, Sr.

James R. Mueller, Sr., 79, of Valdosta, died at 3:23 P.M. on May 19, 2016 . Born in Freeborn County, Minnesota, on December 18, 1936, Jim was the son of the late, George Safron Mueller and Eunice Margaret Lester Mueller. He was raised in Austin, Minnesota, on his family's farm with thirteen brothers and sisters. In 1953, at the age of 17, Jim joined the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam from 1969 until 1970 with the 377th Combat Support Group. He retired as Master Sgt. from the Air Force in 1973.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette; children, James R. Jr. and Deborah Mueller of Ray City, Debbie and Brad Smardo of Citrus Heights, California, Greg Mueller of Valdosta; grandchildren, Justin Fletcher of Citrus Heights, California, Michelle Mueller of Lakeland, Gabrielle Smardo of Topeka, Kansas, Elizabeth Smardo of Citrus Heights, California; brothers, Herman Mueller, Henry (Diane) Mueller, Howard (Elsa) Mueller, Joseph (Debra) Mueller and Donald Mueller; sisters, Mary (Leroy) Olson, Margaret (Joseph) Walsh, Dorothy (Robert) Brandt, Lois Bell, Diane (Dean) Hanson, and Sharon (John) Thompson.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Eugene Mueller, brothers, George Mueller and Lloyd Mueller, brother in law, Rex Bell and sisters in law, Christa Mueller and Dorothy Mueller.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Frank Gupton will officiate. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
