James Kevin Carter

James Kevin Carter, 41, of Valdosta died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at his residence. He was born on February 9, 1966 in Valdosta. He loved his pets: his bird, Sheba and his two dogs, Betsy and Susie. He was an avid reader of the Bible and a tender-hearted person. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Kevin was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Bobby and Claudette Carter; mother and stepfather, Susan and Keith Moore all of Valdosta; brother, Michael Carter, sister and brother-in-law, Vanessa and David Kennedy, brother, Cliff Rooney, all of Valdosta; nieces and nephews, Dillan and Austin Kennedy, Kali Kennedy, Preston and Parker Carter and Alessa Rooney all of Valdosta; grandparents, Roy and Mildred Harris also of Valdosta. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Hubert Carter, Clyde Evelyn Carter and his uncle, Wilbur Carter.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Evans McMullen officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
